How to recover your skin's hydration level as you age - How to hydrate your skin?

1. Use Sunscreen

Use sunscreens that have a sun protection factor (SPF) of 30 or higher to increase the hydration level of skin as you age. Broad-spectrum sunscreen can protect against UVA and UVB rays. When you are going outside or outside the house, apply it every two hours.

2. Increase Fatty Acids in the Diet

Increase the amount of foods rich in essential fatty acids such as omega-3 and omega-6 in your diet. These are your skin's natural protective oils. They prevent the breakdown of collagen in the skin and reduce wrinkles. For this, eat things like olive, canola oil, mackerel and walnuts. Apart from this, it also helps in improving the texture of your skin.

3. Keep Cleaning Off Dead Cells

By staying in the skin for a long time, they spoil its texture from inside. So keep on exfoliating your skin. It helps to remove dead skin cells, which cause loss of moisture with increasing age. Actually, moisture from dead skin is not able to penetrate and remains in the way. Deep cleanse your skin with a gentle exfoliating scrub or mask. Moisturize straight after to re-hydrate skin.

4. Use Glycolic Acid

As you age, try using a moisturizer containing glycolic acid. Also, use many products like petroleum jelly like Vaseline, aloe vera and glycerin etc. They help to trap moisture in the skin and keep the skin texture supple.

5. Eat things rich in water

The first step to hydrating the skin is to hydrate the body. Drink at least 8 glasses of water. Eat foods that have high water content. It increases the amount of water in the cells and tissues inside the skin and increases their ability to renew. Such foods include watermelon, cucumber, capsicum, berries, peaches, and berries, which you can eat in plenty. You can have them for breakfast and as a snack.

6. Use a Soft Cleanser

Use a non-processed, soap-free cleanser to retain vital skin oils. This is because hard soap strips the skin of its moisture and makes it dry. So use home made or any soft cleanser.

7. Do not bathe in hot water for a long time

Bathing with hot water for a long time causes your skin to lose its natural moisture. Due to this the skin becomes dry and later on it starts wrinkling easily. Therefore, avoid bathing for a long time and use towels after bathing in such a way that the towel does not absorb all the water from your body.

8. Hyaluronic Acid

Use hydrating skincare products in your skin care regimen. These products can penetrate the skin, preventing the skin from becoming dehydrated. For this, use a product that contains hyaluronic acid and glycerine. They help hydrate the skin and maintain its elasticity. It has water-binding properties that can compensate for this. It also prevents skin and early signs of ageing. Glycerine has hydrating properties that can keep your skin from drying out. It also removes itching of the skin.

9. Use a face mask/sheet mask

Face masks/sheet masks are packed with hydrating ingredients. It keeps the skin plump and moist. It can also reduce the appearance of fine lines and enhance your beauty. Apart from this, it can also help in reducing dark circles.

10. Vitamins A and B3

To maintain skin texture, eat foods that are rich in vitamins A and B3. These are also essential for improving overall skin health. They also help preserve its natural oils. These prevent rashes caused by itching of the skin.

Apart from all this, also try to increase the amount of collagen and elastin in the skin. Also, eat fruits and vegetables that can hydrate the skin. So, hydrate your skin from within and protect your beauty from eating.
